Red Wings continue successful road trip with 3-2 shootout win over Sharks

The Detroit Red Wings earned another victory, and another shootout victory, Sunday behind goaltender Cam Talbot, defeating the San Jose Sharks, 3-2, in San Jose, Calif.
Talbot stopped all four Sharks shooters, while James van Riemsdyk scored in the fourth round for the Wings, against former Wings goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic.
The Wings (9-4-0) have won three of their first four on this five-game trip that ends Tuesday in Las Vegas.
San Jose tied the score late at 2-2 on Sam Dickinson's first NHL goal. Will Smith wheeled the puck behind the net, and fed Dickinson unchecked in the slot, with Dickinson beating Talbot at 16:55 of the third period.
Neither team scored in overtime, Alex DeBrincat having the best scoring chance on a drive to the net but being denied by Nedeljkovic.
Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider had Wings goals.
After getting an apparent goal Friday get erased on a challenge, Seider finally did get his first goal Sunday in San Jose, a third-period tally that gave the Wings a 2-1 lead.
Seider placed a perfect shot from the top of the slot that flew past Nedeljkovic at 10:16, breaking a 1-1 tie. Simon Edvinsson and DeBrincat drew assists on the goal, DeBrincat seeing his point streak grow to six games.
Seider had an apparent goal Friday in Anaheim, Calif., but it was ruled Seider used a kicking motion that took it away.
Talbot made 16 saves to earn the victory, the second on the trip for Talbot in a shootout.
San Jose's Jeff Skinner tied it 1-1 49 seconds into the third period. Skinner got his stick on Philipp Kurashev's pass across the slot, redirecting the puck past Talbot for his fourth goal. Talbot may have been expecting the puck to go directly across the slot, but Skinner made a good decision to get his stick in the way.
Raymond opened the scoring in the second period with his fourth goal. Axel Sandin-Pellikka found Raymond near the circle, and Raymond made a nifty move to get away from Sharks defenseman Dmitry Orlov, creating room for himself. Raymond wristed a laser that went off the bar and past Nedeljkovic at 18:05.
