Boeing makes new 'final' offer to St. Louis-area employees as strike looms

ST. LOUIS — The Boeing Co. has made a new "final" contract offer to St. Louis-area machinists who on Sunday voted down the company's last proposal.

The new proposal does away with a plan to allow for alternative workweek schedules, which employees had criticized.

It keeps a 20% general wage increase over four years that was a part of Boeing's original contract offer.

But as part of that plan, employees at the top of the pay scale would receive lump sum payments instead of raises for part of the contract, another sticking point in negotiations.

The revised offer makes no change to that provision.

But it does include a 50-cent increase to hourly wages to top-of-scale employees who meet an attendance requirement, which wasn't in the original proposal.
