Maryland Rep. Andy Harris was released after being hospitalized Friday evening for “an episode of dizziness,” a spokesperson said.
“I want to thank all the healthcare providers who took care of me today. I am glad I can return to normal activity after being given a clean bill of health,” Harris said in a statement upon his release.
“Congressman Harris is nine days out from hip surgery and, out of an abundance of caution, was taken to the emergency room for evaluation of an episode of dizziness,” his communications director, Anna Adamian, said earlier in an emailed statement.
Harris, 68, represents Maryland’s 1st Congressional District, which includes the Eastern Shore, Harford County and part of Baltimore County. He is the state’s only Republican member of Congress.
A physician by training and a former Naval Reserve medical officer, Harris has served in Congress since 2011.
