Auto review: 2025 Ford Mustang brings convertible fun for everyone

Ford Motor Co. seems to have gone down a rabbit hole in recent years with EVs, spending tons of money and time on production and innovation. While the company's trusty old nameplates continue to be profitable and modern, Ford has left the Mustang untouched, and for good reason. In Grasso’s Garage today, we review the 2025 Intense Lime Yellow Metallic Ford Mustang Convertible.

Marketed as a four-seater, the 2025 Mustang Convertible is powered by a potent 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, paired with Ford's ever-popular and proven 10-speed automatic transmission, providing 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. With plenty of pep in its step, the Mustang still earned excellent fuel economy at over 28 mpg on our week-long Florida test. Standard options on our Ford Mustang Convertible tester included remote start, cross-traffic alert, a black deck-lid spoiler and black painted wheels.

Unlike the late ’60s Mustang Convertible, in 2025 the car features excellent seat comfort, as well as great infotainment technology that is easy to use and navigate. Drive mode options were also changeable from the center-stack, cockpit-like interior, which produced exhaust noise options and enhancements.

As a staple in the Ford Fleet, the Mustang delivers comfort, convenience and power for an excellent value. Unlike previous generations, which attempted to be a throwback to older Mustangs, the 2025 refreshed version is fresh and up to date in terms of technology, safety and aesthetics, and does not skimp on comfort and storage. Finding an American-made convertible in today’s over-inflated market is hard enough, let alone an icon as long-lasting and proven as the Mustang. Did we mention the great base price? With Ford offering employee pricing to the general public, now might be the time to give the Mustang another look, for that fun in the sun you deserve.

CLASSIC CARS: The interest in last week’s classic car review was overwhelming. I hope to be able to review more classics in the future. Do you have a favorite? If so, reach me at marc.grasso@bostonherald.com.
