Djuna Barnes was born on June 12, 1892, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. She is the author of the poetry collection "The Book of Repulsive Women" (Guido Bruno, 1915), among others, as well as the novel "Nightwood" (Harcourt, Brace and Co., 1937). She died on June 18, 1982.
