Saturn's Hope

Holiday Mathis on

One event is time standing still. Two different events is time passing. Time is events in an order, and the order is always forward. On the day before a Saturn transit (in this case, retrograde Saturn leaving Aries the warrior for Pisces the dreamer), hope launches. "Father Time" whispers cosmic wisdom today: to understand time in the most hopeful, tangible way, and plant a seed.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). A friend's wild idea or strange suggestion might be exactly what your day needs. Don't dismiss the offbeat. You'll be surprised how much clarity and momentum come from play, weirdness and a change of pace.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). When you care, you don't skim the surface -- you dive. Your attention is a magnifying glass; wherever you point it, the world sharpens. The moment blooms or withers in direct proportion to how much of yourself you give it.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Every plan has strengths and weaknesses, but you cannot possibly know what they are until implementation. Guesses will prove wrong, and things will happen you couldn't possibly have anticipated.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Keep following the little tugs of interest you feel. Your curiosity leads you to ask a simple question and open a deeper layer. What you find will change how you think about a situation, and maybe how you think about yourself.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Though energy may wane, push through. Exercise will invigorate you. The momentum is building, and if you step away for a break, you'll miss out on the strange little miracle that only shows up for those who stay in motion.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). People get so fixated on things like guest lists or who sits next to whom because they understand how powerful one interaction can be. The mix of personalities will be everything today. You'll witness the alchemy today.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You've always cared about fairness. But lately, you've been more focused on kindness, which is different. You'll smooth something out not because it's your responsibility, but because you have the grace and bandwidth to do it, and it will feel good to help.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You're absorbing subtext, reading people, gathering intelligence. As for mental arguments that only you can hear, they do serve a purpose. You'll work out the pros and cons of a decision before you ever take the risk.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You don't have to labor all the time to earn your place. You've already done enough. Make choices that preserve your energy and sanity. Go out. Get what you want. Treat your people. Charge what you're worth. And don't look back.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You're willingly exposing something you made, your effort or your ideas, to feedback. This you do in full knowledge that it might be picked apart or criticized. That takes guts. Most people avoid that vulnerability, but you're not most people.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You want to do a thing, then you do it. It seems simple enough, but it's remarkable to risk feeling a fool, or decide that success doesn't matter in the least. What matters is that you do what you say, and you say what you do.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The usual labels, like good, bad, victim, hero, don't apply cleanly in real life. People can be contradictory: someone wholesome may still have hidden motives; someone who bends the rules may be doing it for the right reasons. You'll witness complexity.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 31). You are radiant, resilient and full of creativity. The offering you've long held in your heart? This is the year you will finally get to place it in someone's hands. It's a soul-expanding gesture that makes a difference in the world. More highlights: You'll break a cycle. Your home, body and lifestyle will reflect more of who you are now. Something you sell or share brings in more than you anticipated. Sagittarius and Leo adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 10, 11, 17 and 2.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: "Four" is the magic number for Chris Tucker these days as he works to develop the fourth sequel of not only the "Rush Hour" franchise but the "Friday" franchise as well. Like a Virgo with Mercury in entertaining Leo, Tucker's sharp wit defies genre. Whether the film is science fiction like "The Fifth Element," funny like "Rush Hour" or dramatic like "Silver Linings Playbook," the commonality is the high caliber of artistry and performances, reflecting a deep dedication to perfecting his craft.
