Question from the Cancer Moon

Holiday Mathis on

Many are contemplating changes and improvements, but the idea of adding certain disciplines and habits can feel like a burden to those who are already stretched to the limit. It's not just about willpower; it's about how much energy we have left after holding up the world around us. Lunar trines ask: What would it take to relieve some of the emotional expenditures of daily life?

ARIES (March 21-April 19). When you're around people you trust, it's easier to have fun. Laughter comes quicker, conversation flows and you don't have to second-guess yourself. Seek out the ones who let you relax into a joy of being.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Hindsight might be 20/20, but foresight serves you even better today, so keep looking out. You'll notice the equivalent of a pothole ahead; miss the hazard, and let others know so they can avoid it, too.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You have an uncanny ability to find your way in and out of trouble. That's why you're so much fun. Whatever sticky situation you get into, you'll get yourself unstuck while there's still humor in it.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You seek resources, however it doesn't help a bit for every single option to be open to you. Narrow your focus. Once you know precisely what you're looking for, things get easier, and sorting might actually be fun.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Though it's good to be needed, the presence of someone who relies on you is a lot of responsibility, and it could get draining. Caring for yourself is not the opposite of caring for others; it's what allows you to keep showing up with an open heart.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Needing less out of a situation than the others involved will put you in a position of advantage. The only thing better would be to need absolutely nothing. From a place of detached objectivity, you will see where the richest opportunities lie.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Once you trust that a relationship is reciprocal, keeping score becomes unnecessary. You know that if you're momentarily down, things will balance, and if you've taken more, you'll repay it with interest. Where mutuality is valued, the relationship won't drain you.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Commitment issues arise. People ask you to join them, and you are happy to oblige for a moment. Your reluctance to stay any longer than that is a mystery, even to you, but your intuition is speaking, so hear it out.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). If you want to know what someone is afraid of, pay attention to what they shield and protect. Defensiveness tells all. For maximum benefit, turn the exercise on yourself, as sometimes we don't realize what we fear until we throw up the guard.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Transactions are not always what they seem to be. Often the commodity being exchanged is merely a symbol for something else, something emotional or intangible like status, affection, power. Ask yourself, what exactly is being exchanged?

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Some people will occur to you as characters with traits that are easily identifiable. Others are an enigma. Today you'll be drawn to those mysterious people who defy type -- the unsolvable puzzles that keep your thoughts engaged.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). An opportunity returns, an old dream resurfaces or a connection reappears. It's wonderful to have this chance to go back and pick up something you lost along the way. This time, you'll see and hold it differently.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (March 9). A year of incandescence as you bring a warmth and richness to the world, making everything feel more luminous and alive. More highlights: Your deep, unshakable love will be returned by people who show up, who adore you not just for what you give but for the entirety of who you are. Excellent use of your resources will double them. Good fortune graces your family. Leo and Sagittarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 13, 20, 15 and 33.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Like a Pisces, Brittany Snow is that friend her fellow artists come to for advice as her wisdom spans realms from the professional to the personal. Her "Pitch Perfect" co-star Anna Kendrick reportedly tapped Snow for directorial advice, as Snow blazed the trail from acting to directing with her film "Parachute." Among her many upcoming projects, Snow will star in the thriller "The Hunting Wives," a story of obsession, seduction and murder.
