Teddi Mellencamp has revealed she was rushed to hospital after developing painful sores across her entire body, later learning she was suffering from Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) caused by a new medication.

Speaking on Tuesday's (03.03.26) episode of her Two Ts in a Pod podcast, the 44-year-old former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told co-host Tamra Judge that she initially believed she had the flu before waking up to a severe reaction.

She said: "I thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash.

"Like, you can't even say it's a rash because it's almost like sores all over my entire body."

Teddi said the sores "hurt" and "burned", prompting urgent care doctors to send her straight to the emergency room.

There, she learned the reaction was SJS -- a rare but serious disorder that affects the skin and mucous membranes and is often triggered by medication. The condition typically begins with flu-like symptoms before progressing into a painful, blistering rash.

She explained that blisters had formed around her eyes, in her mouth and "just everywhere", leaving her unable to swallow.

She was admitted to hospital and treated with steroid injections and antibiotics.

Teddi said: "The reason they were like, 'You have to stay in [the hospital]' is because they can start to get better and then shift right back up."

After several days, her symptoms improved enough for her to return home -- just in time to celebrate her daughter Dove's sixth birthday, which she had been determined not to miss after being hospitalised during last year's celebration.

She said: "It wasn't feeling great, but it's just, like, the adrenaline from being there.

"I was so happy."

The health scare comes as Teddi continues her long-running battle with melanoma.

Diagnosed with stage two melanoma in 2022, she revealed in April 2025 that the cancer had progressed to stage four after spreading to her lungs and brain.

She has since undergone multiple surgeries -- including the removal of 17 melanoma spots and four brain tumours -- and has been receiving immunotherapy, which has significantly shrunk the growths.

Marking Dove's birthday on Instagram, Teddi shared a tribute to her "miracle baby", reflecting on how her daughter's resilience following life-saving surgery for lambdoid craniosynostosis in 2020 has inspired her own fight. She also apologised for missing Dove's fifth birthday while she was in hospital, writing: "Dang you don't know how grateful I am to be at this one."

Her post followed comments from her father, singer John Mellencamp, who said his daughter was "really sick".

Teddi later clarified that her cancer had not returned, explaining she is still undergoing immunotherapy and continues to manage the physical toll of treatment.

She explained on her podcast: "There's still no trace of cancer.

"But I'm still considered stage four… I would hope that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don't."
