Halle Bailey thinks it's important she discusses her experience of postpartum depression.
The 25-year-old star - who has son Halo, 22 months, with ex-partner DDG - is keen to share her experiences with other women who are facing similar challenges in their own lives.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Halle explained: "I felt like, wow, I have to speak up about this -- not only for, you know, the older women, but the younger generation of women. There's a lot of girls my age, like around 24 [and] 25, having children, and we kind of are like, 'Oh my goodness.'
"When we give birth, we're like, wow, the emotions, the hormones, everything. You realise that you need a strong support system with you. You need help. You need people to love on you and make sure that you're okay."
Halle thinks she can ultimately help other women to feel less isolated.
She said: "I just think it's amazing to just be open about it because it can help so many people and make you not feel alone. That's necessary because then they know what's ahead and not surprised by it and know they're not alone."
Meanwhile, Halle previously suggested that motherhood has given her a "new level of maturity".
The actress also confessed to being "obsessed" with her baby boy.
Halle said during a GRAMMY U Masterclass talk: "I feel like I've reached this new level of maturity, especially being a mother now, which is so crazy to say.
"It has opened up a whole new can of worms for me, honestly. I am obsessed with my baby. It's insane."
Halle - who is perhaps best known for starring in the 2023 Little Mermaid movie - suggested motherhood has given her a "greater purpose" in life.
She said: "It's literally like your heart is in your hands in this beautiful being.
"I just feel like I have such greater purpose and so much more to do for him and so much more that I want him to be able to experience. It gives me a new motivation and drive and passion for myself, for my family, for my life."
