'A MINECRAFT MOVIE'

Rated PG for violence/action, language, suggestive/rude humor and some scary images.

What it’s about: An adventure film based on the popular video game Minecraft.

The kid attractor factor: The popularity of the game, the young cast, the humor and the PG-rated adventure.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Being creative is an asset, and a quality that should be celebrated.

Violence: Some fighting of animated zombies, golems and war pigs with swords, shovels and shooters. Explosions galore.

Language: Some raunchy jokes.

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Perhaps a bit scary for little children but should be fine for most kids.

'THE LUCKIEST MAN IN AMERICA'

Rated R for language.

What it’s about: Based on the “Press Your Luck” scandal in 1984, when Michael Larson memorized the patterns of lights on the Big Board to win $110,000.

The kid attractor factor: Not much, this is a quirky adult dramedy.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Outsmart corporate media at your own risk.

Violence: None

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Fine for older kids and teens if they’re interested.
