Savannah Guthrie and family seen viewing memorial for their missing mom
Published in News & Features
NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie and her sister Annie Guthrie gathered at a memorial constructed outside the Tucson home of their mom, Nancy Guthrie, who’s been missing for more than a month.
The siblings were joined by Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, as they comforted each other while looking at flowers and reading notes left for them and their mother. Video shot by News Nation shows the trio adding to the memorial.
“Momma, we miss you so much! Our hearts are broken,” their letter said. “We are standing on ash, on scorched earth! But Mom, though we are surrounded by so much darkness and uncertainty, our love burns bright. We love you Mommy. We miss you so much. Our best friend!!”
Investigators have reported very few breaks in their case since Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1. Video retrieved from a doorbell camera showed an armed man in a mask and gloves approaching the property on a couple of occasions prior to the 84-year-old matriarch’s apparent abduction. A doorbell camera a couple of miles from her home filmed a car zipping by around the time she’s believed to have gone missing. It’s not known if that vehicle is linked to the masked man.
The Guthrie’s announced a $1 million reward for information that leads to her return last week. Savannah said in a video posted to social media that she and her siblings understand their mom “may already be gone.”
The Guthrie sisters also have a brother named Cameron Guthrie. He recorded a video in early February asking for whoever has his mother to make contact with his family.
