Bolsonaro leaves hospital and returns to prison, CNN Brazil says

Brazil’s former president, Jair Bolsonaro, was discharged from a hospital in Brasilia and returned to prison on Thursday, according to CNN Brazil, more than a week after he was admitted to be treated for a bout of persistent hiccups.
The former president underwent a procedure last week to block the phrenic nerve and control the hiccups. He underwent separate surgery to repair a hernia, a consequence of the abdominal stabbing he suffered during the 2018 presidential campaign.
Bolsonaro returned to prison after being convicted by Brazil’s Supreme Court of attempting to carry out a coup following his electoral defeat in 2022.
His lawyers attempted to have him released from prison under house arrest following his stint at the hospital, but their request was denied by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes on Thursday, also according to CNN.
