Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of JFK, dies at 35 from cancer

NEW YORK — Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of John F. Kennedy, died Tuesday just over a month after revealing her terminal cancer diagnosis. She was 35.

Schlossberg announced in a Nov. 22 essay that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and given a year to live. She was first diagnosed in May 2024.

“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” several Kennedy family members wrote Tuesday in social media posts shared by the JFK Library Foundation.

Schlossberg was the daughter of the 35th president’s daughter, Caroline Kennedy, and Caroline’s husband, Edwin Schlossberg. She had two children of her own, a son and daughter, with her husband, George Moran.

In fact, it was after giving birth to her second child that Schlossberg was diagnosed with leukemia.

“I did not—could not—believe that they were talking about me,” she wrote in November for the New Yorker. “I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew.” New York Daily News

D4vd expected to be indicted by LA grand jury in Celeste Rivas’ death

D4vd is likely to be indicted by a grand jury for his suspected role in the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the teenager whose mangled remains were found decomposing in the singer’s trunk in September, according to a report.

Sources tell TMZ that, contrary to previous reports, the Los Angeles grand jury hearing from witnesses in the case is not merely “investigative” and will indeed vote on whether to indict the 20-year-old “Romantic Homicide” crooner, real name David Anthony Burke. The Queens-born singer has been reportedly considered a suspect in Rivas’ death since at least mid-November.

D4vd was at the start of a world tour when the dismembered remains of 15-year-old Rivas were found in his impounded Tesla on Sept. 8, though it’s believed Rivas died in the spring. By the end of the month, the rest of the tour was canceled.

In late November, TMZ reported that the case was officially being investigated as a homicide, though officials were at odds over Rivas’ cause of death. New York Daily News

Texas appeals court upholds ruling preventing AG Paxton from targeting ‘rogue’ prosecutors

An all-Republican state appeals court on Tuesday unanimously upheld a previous judicial order that put the brakes on Attorney General Ken Paxton’s efforts to rein in “rogue” prosecutors in Texas’ most urban areas.

The judicial panel effectively sided with Democratic Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot and fellow urban prosecutors who argued the Paxton-imposed reporting requirements exceeded his statutory authority.

The ruling, however, doesn’t end the legal fight. The case now returns to the Travis County district court that issued a temporary injunction in May preventing Paxton from requiring urban-area prosecutors to hand over sensitive case information and submit regular reports to him.

“While this ruling is only preliminary, it shows progress in the right direction,” Creuzot said in a statement late Tuesday. “Yet another court has ruled that Attorney General Paxton overstepped his authority by proposing to enforce these rules with the likelihood of costing taxpayers millions of dollars.”

A spokesperson for the attorney general’s office didn’t respond Tuesday to a request for comment. The Dallas Morning News

Aid organizations in Gaza face withdrawal of licenses by Israel

TEL AVIV, Israel — Several international aid organizations operating in the Palestinian territories, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF), face a closure of their operations there at the start of next year, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.

The Israeli government has taken legal steps to revoke their operating licenses effective January 1, citing a lack of registration and the alleged involvement of some employees in terrorist activities.

The Ministry of Diaspora Affairs said that 37 organizations have so far been affected by the suspension.

They have been informed that their licenses would be revoked on January 1 and that they would have to cease and complete their activities by March 1 at the latest.

Doctors Without Borders warned in a statement last week that the new registration requirements imposed by Israel could leave hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza Strip without life-saving medical care by 2026. dpa
