9 people wounded in shooting at Airbnb party in Ohio

Nine people were wounded in a shooting at a party in an Ohio Airbnb between Cleveland and Akron early Sunday, authorities said.
The nine people included a mix of adults and juveniles who attended the chaotic party in Bath Township, which was promoted on social media, Police Chief Vito Sinopoli said at a press conference.
No suspects have been arrested or identified. The shooting broke out around 12:15 a.m. at the home about 20 miles south of Cleveland.
“Violence is not commonplace here,” Sinopoli said. “It’s pretty much an indicator that no community is immune from violence, and this happened to be in Bath Township again unfortunately.”
Officers got to the scene minutes after multiple 911 calls came in, arriving to find people sprinting away while others attempted to aid the wounded. Sinopoli said most people, including whoever opened fire, fled the scene after the bullets stopped flying.
The exact details of what led to the shooting were not immediately clear, along with the identities and conditions of the wounded victims, Sinopoli said.
“When an incident like this occurs, we’re very upset about it,” he said. “We’re going to do our very best to find out who’s responsible for this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
Airbnbs and short-term rentals are not permitted under local zoning ordinances in Bath, which has about 10,000 residents. Police noted that in 2017, a teen was wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a different Airbnb rental.
